Entry Requirements

To enter the Master of Finance programme you will have been awarded or qualified for a relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification, with a minimum C+ grade average in the highest level courses.

If you have a Bachelor of Business Studies with Honours, or the equivalent degree of another recognised university, you may apply for credit towards Part One of the qualification in accordance with the limits specified in the Recognition of Prior Learning regulations.

The Master of Environmental Management reflects the growing need to protect the environment and use resources of land, water, soil, plants, and animals in a balanced and sustainable way. This programme will help you gain advanced knowledge in current land and water-based environmental management.
Entry Requirements

To enter the Master of Environmental Management you will have been awarded or qualified for:

  • a relevant Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with a minimum B average in the qualifying 300-level courses, or
  • a Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Management or equivalent, with at least a B average (for the Applied pathway) or B+ average (for the Research pathway), or
  • a Bachelor of Environmental Management (Honours), or equivalent, with Second Class Honours, Division II, or higher (for the Applied pathway) or Second Class Honours, Division I, or higher (for the Research pathway).

If you have a Bachelor of Environmental Management (Honours) or a Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Management or equivalent as outlined above, you may apply for credit towards Part One of the qualification in accordance with the limits specified in the Recognition of Prior Learning regulations.

To enter the Master of Food Safety and Quality you will have been awarded or qualified for:

  • a bachelor with honours degree in food engineering, food science or food technology, or equivalent, or
  • a bachelor's degree in engineering, science, technology, or equivalent and completed at least 36 months relevant professional experience in the food or biological products industry.

This programme is a selected entry programme. This means there are a number of extra requirements you must meet.

To enter the Master of Fine Arts you will:

  • have been awarded or qualified for a Bachelor of Design with Honours or Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours (or equivalent) with a minimum B average, or

Have been awarded or qualified for a Postgraduate Diploma in Fine Arts or Postgraduate Diploma in Design (or equivalent) with a minimum B average, or

  • have been awarded a relevant Bachelor's degree with a minimum B average and demonstrated relevant industry or professional experience.

You will also need to:

  • take part in an interview
  • provide a portfolio of design work

Entry Requirements

To enter the Master of Food Technology you will have been awarded or qualified for:

  • a bachelor's degree in food engineering, food science or food technology, with a minimum B grade average over the 200- and 300-level courses, or equivalent, or
  • a Bachelor of Food Technology with Honours having achieved at least Second Class Honours, or equivalent.

You will also provide a short summary of your research interests (200 words or less) with your application.

  • been awarded or qualified for the Bachelor of Information Sciences or an equivalent qualification, having achieved a B- grade average or higher over the qualifying 300-level majoring courses; or
  • been awarded or qualified for a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification, having achieved a B- grade average or higher over the 300-level majoring courses, and have at least two years' relevant professional experience demonstrated via a portfolio, and an interview if required.

The Master of International Security is a multidisciplinary programme. It draws on strategic studies, international relations, military studies, political science, area studies, political and human geography and complementary fields of study.
Entry Requirements

To enter the Master of International Security you will have been awarded or qualified for:

  • a relevant bachelor's degree with a grade average of at least B-, or
  • a completed Postgraduate Certificate in International Security, with at least a B- grade average, or
  • a completed Postgraduate Diploma in International Security, with at least a B- Grade average,

or you will:

  • be able to demonstrate scholarly work in conjunction with extensive relevant professional experience and standing in leadership, managerial and planning positions in government or non-government security agencies appropriate for admission with equivalent status.

If you have a Postgraduate Certificate in International Security or Postgraduate Diploma in International Security as outlined above, you may apply for credit towards Part One of the qualification in accordance with the limits specified in the Recognition of Prior Learning regulations.

Entry Requirements

To enter the Master of International Development you will have been awarded or qualified for:

  • a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Development Studies, or equivalent, with a minimum B average across the 200 and 300 level major courses, or
  • a bachelor's degree with a B average across the relevant 200 and 300 level courses and relevant field or industry experience of an appropriate kind and duration, or
  • a Postgraduate Diploma in International Development, or equivalent, with a B average.

If you have a Postgraduate Diploma in International Development as outlined above, you may apply for credit towards Part One of the qualification in accordance with the limits specified in the Recognition of Prior Learning regulations

Field experience includes:

  • voluntary work (eg refugee resettlement with Red Cross, or supporting a disadvantaged community group in New Zealand)
  • other relevant work or experience (eg a social worker, nurse or teacher in New Zealand or overseas)
  • specific development experience (eg an engineer who worked in Nepal).

In this instance you will need to provide your curriculum vitae outlining this experience.

The Master of Management is a professional, relevant and contemporary qualification. Management involves both being able to work independently and making management decisions. But, you also need to be able to work with and direct teams of people.
Entry Requirements

To enter the Master of Management you will:

  • have been awarded or qualified for a relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification, having achieved a grade average of at least B- in the highest level courses, or
  • have been awarded or qualified for a Postgraduate Diploma in Business with a B- grade average, or equivalent.

If you have a Postgraduate Diploma in Business as outlined above, you may apply for credit towards Part One of the qualification, in a single subject. Credit may be awarded in in accordance with the limits specified in the Recognition of Prior Learning regulations. If you are granted credit, the degree will be awarded without a subject.
