Recruitment Process

  1. Online Application - If you have seen a position you would like to apply for on our careers website, apply online attaching your latest CV, covering letter, and any other relevant documents you are asked to submit. (It will only take a few minutes to create yourself a profile!)
  2. Shortlist - If your skills and experience are suitable for the position, you will be contacted by one of our hiring managers to arrange an interview or have a quick discussion regarding the role and ask for a few details about your application.
  3. Interview - If your application is short-listed, you will be invited to attend a panel interview with a minimum of two senior staff. If you are based outside of
  4. Auckland, the interview will be conducted via various technologies such as Skype or Zoom. Our interviews are behavioral and competency-based, asking you to provide relevant examples of your prior experience in line with the competencies we're recruiting for the role.
  5. Reference check - If you have been successful after the interview, one of the panels from the interview conducts two professional verbal reference checks so please ensure that all referee details are up-to-date.
  6. Pre-employment checks - As part of Auckland DHB's health and safety policy, all our people are required to complete at least a criminal history check and health clearance. If your role is considered a core children's worker role, you will be asked to complete a children's worker safety check-in line with the Vulnerable Children's Act. Pre-employment checks can take up to four weeks so it is crucial that all tasks are completed as soon as possible.

Remuneration & Career Growth

  • Remuneration - The majority of positions within Auckland DHB have union coverage and an associated Collective Employment Agreement (CEA). If an employee has been recruited to a position within Auckland DHB that is covered by a collective employment agreement, they will automatically be offered employment on the terms and conditions of the relevant CEA. You will be placed on the appropriate step and the salary scale based on the number of years of experience you have in this job field. The positions not covered by a CEA will be covered under the Individual Employment Agreements (IEA), primarily in administrative, professional, management, and executive roles across the DHB's support functions.
