Entry Requirements

To enter the Master of Creative Enterprise you will:

  • have been awarded or qualified for a bachelor's degree with a B average in the highest level courses of your degree, or
  • demonstrated equivalent practical, professional and/or scholarly experience.

You will also need to provide:

  • a portfolio of creative works
  • a written expression of interest
  • verified copies of all academic transcripts for studies taken at all universities other than Massey University.

Entry Requirements

This programme is a selected entry programme. This means there are a number of extra requirements.

To enter the Master of Counselling Studies you will have:

  • been awarded or qualified for a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Counselling & Guidance), with a B average, or
  • been awarded or qualified for a Postgraduate Diploma in Rehabilitation (Rehabilitation Counselling) with a B average, or
  • been awarded or qualified for an approved equivalent qualification with a B average,
  • sufficient background or professional experience to be likely to successfully engage in the programme.

You will be selected into the programme on the basis of a process which includes providing:

  • a verified copy of your academic transcript/s
  • a copy of your current curriculum vitae (including education and employment for at least the last five years)
  • a completed NZ Police Request and Consent form, along with two pieces of verified identification (one of which must be photographic) from the list of acceptable forms of identification on the Checklist
  • a copy of a police report from every country you have lived in for more than 12 months in the last 10 years. Please do not supply originals.
  • you may take part in an interview.

As part of the application you will also supply:

  • a personal statement about what you have learned about counselling, including your understanding of mana enhancing, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, bi-cultural, pluralistic approaches
  • contact details of suggested agencies/settings where you would like to undertake your counselling practice placement
  • contact details of two referees
  • contact details for a potential supervisor external to your placement.

Masters (Coursework)

The Master of Creative Writing (MCW) is a 180-credit programme that can follow on immediately from your bachelor's degree in any subject.
Entry Requirements

This programme is a selected entry programme. This means there are a number of extra requirements you must meet.

To enter the Master of Creative Writing you will:

  • have been awarded or qualified for a bachelor's degree with at least a B grade average across the 200 and 300-level specialisation courses, or
  • have a bachelor's with honours degree or a postgraduate diploma in arts in Creative Writing, Expressive Arts or English, with at least a B grade average for the qualification.

You will be selected into the programme on the basis of a process which includes providing:

  • a summary of your research interests: a brief (one to two paragraphs) outline of your proposed MCW thesis, summarising your proposed creative project (about 70% of the thesis) and proposed critical project (about 30% of the thesis). Please indicate the genre in which you would like to write your creative thesis in this outline. Critical projects usually take the form of a literary essay, a craft essay, or an exegesis
  • a portfolio of your creative writing (please refer below)
  • confirmation that your creative writing portfolio is your own personal work.

If you have a bachelor's with honours degree or postgraduate diploma in arts in Creative Writing, Expressive Arts or English as outlined above, you may apply for credit towards Part One of the qualification in accordance with the limits specified in the Recognition of Prior Learning regulations.

To enter the Master of Dairy Science and Technology you will:

  • have been awarded or qualified for either a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours, Bachelor of Science with Honours, a Bachelor of Food Technology with Honours, or equivalent, and
  • have approved employment in the New Zealand dairy industry to facilitate the requirements of courses 141.751 Dairy Products Technical Projects and 141.848 Dairy Science and Technology Research Project.

To enter the Master of Education you will have been awarded or qualified for:

  • the Bachelor of Education with a grade average in the highest level courses of at least a B, or equivalent, or
  • any other bachelor's degree with a grade average in the highest level courses of at least a B, or equivalent, and hold a professional qualification in teaching, or
  • any other bachelor's degree with a grade average in the highest level courses of at least a B, or equivalent, and have professional experience relevant to the intended postgraduate subject, or
  • a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, or equivalent, with a grade average across all courses of at least B (coursework pathway) or at least a B+ (research pathway).

If you do not have a Bachelor of Education or equivalent, you will need to supply a copy of your curriculum vitae (CV).

If you have a Postgraduate Diploma in Education as outlined above, you may apply for credit towards Part One of the qualification in accordance with the limits specified in the Recognition of Prior Learning regulations.

To enter the Master of Educational and Developmental Psychology you will have:

  • been awarded or qualified for a bachelor's degree in education, psychology, counselling, social work, speech language therapy, or a related relevant discipline, having achieved a grade average of at least a B in the highest level courses (or equivalent), and
  • passed at least 60 credits of approved psychology courses including at least 45 credits at 200-level or higher. These courses could include social, health, educational, clinical, indigenous, neuro or developmental psychology, brain and behaviour or memory and cognition.

Successful completion of the Master of Educational Psychology or the Master of Educational and Developmental Psychology will not give automatic entry into the Postgraduate Diploma in Educational and Developmental Psychology (the internship).

Admission to the Postgraduate Diploma in Educational and Developmental Psychology (the internship) is by selected entry only. To be eligible to apply for this internship, you will have a GPA of B+ or higher in your master's qualification.
