Training & Personal Development at Mr Apple NZ

There is the basic training done around first aid etc. But no development courses to speak of. The only good training that I have been involved in, is the H&S training given to H&S reps. This has been on going and done at a good level and also done through at good company. I have made suggestions in the past, around mentors and developing skills to move up the ladder, but nothing has come to fruition. I have either taken on my own personal training in development or sourced it from somewhere else.

A lot of leadership training but sometimes the wrong people selected to go on the courses.

The training is very good as it is split between formal and informal training on the work site. I believe this is a good strategy because you get the technical knowledge and the practical training on site to fully understand how everything fits together.

With my training I also attend EIT as an apprentice about 15-20 days a year. These are paid days from my company and with the assignments I bring into work I am always very supported by my managers and peers with help around these. Wet rain days are always very ideal to pick everyone's brains for information also. With general training throughout work we have SOP's, which are guidelines we need to follow when learning any machinery or tools of any sort. With these training guidelines we have a thorough process in which to use any piece of equipment we need to be signed off first by a foreman or manager to ensure we understand how to properly use whatever it is so no accidents or less likely accidents are likely to occur.
