What are your thoughts on pay and bonuses at your company?
Its never been about the money for me. I would have workplace culture first way above pay. I need the workplace to be a happy one, you spend a huge amount of time working. I want this time to be in a place that is joyful and no negative vibes. Something that has recently happened with the company is the giving of 2 extra days off for the recognition of the pressure of COVID over the harvest. This is paid leave and given to everyone (perms). For me its a bitter pill, from the point that not everyone gave it all over this time and still get the leave. There were people that were not committed as they should be and then the people who truly carried the load are not recognised. It just feels a bit unfair from that point of view. I am on an hourly wage, so the more hours I do the more pay I get. Over harvest and Spring into thinning, I can do an average of 65 hours a week. So my pay for the year, which is below, is based on that. This is not my base salary.

Would like to think its based on skill and contribution to the business but sometimes it doesn't seem so.

I believe that the company needs to pay better with the staff that are starting in the industry so that we get those people into the company in the first place so that we have those staff and can train them up to be better and can help progress the company further in the future

Pay is generally based upon progression, if you have a can do attitude and are willing to learn new things you can definitely expect pay rises. I have found personally that the industry is really well paying especially when you have a few extra hours during the week. We don’t necessarily as orchardists get bonuses but with Mr Apple they’re really awesome with acknowledging hard efforts during harvest and will often give us some free days of company leave as a thank you alongside at Christmas time we get hampers and paid work dos and are really well appreciated.

Good but can be inconsistent currently

Pay could be more with the responsibility that I have , the size of operation and amount of staffing I have to obtain and manage

What are your company's best or most unusual perks? For example: free tickets, free dinners, moving expenses, taxis, pension, etc.
There are no perks. I have experienced any in my 29 years of working in this company. I may get the odd piece of clothing from a chemical promotion, but this has not happened in the last 4 years or so. There is no recognition for individuals who achieve or deliver in their workplace.

full use of company vehicle and tools

The company is very generous in terms of study and how it supports those that are studying. We help pay for the study course and provides incentives for doing well.

We generally get Paid company days off to show appreciation for hard efforts as well as outings with the team to all have a bit of fun together. We also have exercise challenges going throughout the weeks and most to participate get vouchers which is a fun incentive
