Application Process & Interviews at Jacobs New Zealand

8.3
8.3 rating for Recruitment, based on 32 reviews
Please describe the interview process and assessments.
Personal. Invitation to an in-person interview was made by a phone call from a team line manager, interview was held with two consultants, and the official offer was made over a coffee near the office with a line manager. Every effort was made to feel like a genuine recruitment and not a transactional grad hire.

I applied to the intern program and have since been transitioned to a graduate but applied online, did a recorded video interview and then an in person interview before receiving an offer
Graduate, Brisbane
Applied, had an interview and then got a call saying I was hired. Very normal process.
Graduate, Adelaide
Different questions to previous interviews and the people who interviewed me were the same people who are working with me
Graduate, Melbourne
I was originally hired as an intern, and offered a graduate position after completing my 12 week placement. For my intern position I submitted a cover letter and resume online, filled out an online questionnaire, and took part in an interview at the office.
Graduate, Hobart
Very straightforward and no need for excessive assessments.
Graduate, Auckland
Submitted my application, went straight to a direct 1 on 2 interview with my section and sales lead. Overall, it was fairly simple.

I was interviewed for an intern position in 2017 (quick 15 minute interview). I then accepted a graduate role off the back of being an intern. I didn't need to re-interview for the graduate role. I can't remember the intern interview very well so feel I am not able to appropriately comment on this question

Generic interview questions (experience, expertise, why I wanted to work there, etc.)
Graduate, Brisbane

Tell us about yourself? Tell us a time when you exceeded expectation?
Graduate, Sydney
Mostly about my background, what the role entails.
Graduate, Auckland
Very generic questions and the sales lead did a great job in trying to create a conversation during the interview. This looks to be the way for future interviews to be done, where the interviewer is trying to understand the person they are bringing in.

Research the company, its values, projects. Talk about why you're specifically interested in the role you applied for.
Graduate, Melbourne
Begin developing an idea of where you would like to be professionally in the next handful of years; this probably won't happen overnight and will likely be refined as time progresses. Of equal importance is making efforts to actually figure out what you need to do in order to make that happen. It's difficult to approach work with the gusto needed for success without having a clear and articulated understanding of what you want, why you want it and how you're going to get it.
Graduate, Melbourne
- Have a rough idea of what you want to achieve and what type of work you want to do - Understand Jacobs' values (we do things right, etc.)
Graduate, Perth
It's more of how you fit with the culture, as compared to how much you know.
