My role is quite diverse and I am often doing many different tasks throughout the week.

Attend meetings, perform analyses and write up results into reports, do excel modelling, prepare presentations

Working on projects to help other team members.

Spatial analysis/conversion, cartography, web mapping

Assisting the lead PMCA with the project requirements

I've been able to deep dive into some great challenges, I'm grateful to my managers for getting me onto meaningful technical work. Lots of thermal calculations, understanding standards, report writing, giving input to bids/proposals.

Working as building structures engineer, currently working on construction phase of project. Coordinating with other disciplines, shop drawing reviews, small design tanks and amendments and coordinating peer reviews.

Working on tasks handed down by Seniors, crash and data analysis, transport design

Supporting seniors on rail project from early design to final design. Communicating with different teams. Communicating with seniors. Utilising AutoCAD, power rail and open rail etc.

I generally do a broad range of tasks day to day. I am currently working on a landfill that has little to do with my actual 'job title' but I am able to experience a range of topics and gain skills that I wouldn't if I remained strictly in the geotechnical engineering area. I do complete some geotechnical engineering but I enjoy the balance between technical and client facing.

Currently I; - Complete hydraulic modelling tasks (data analysis, model builds/calibration etc) - Complete flood modelling tasks (use GIS to create maps, create shapefiles of proposed structures, run the TUFLOW model) - Complete civil engineering tasks (report writing, structure sizing/design, Project management tasks)

My role involves a mix of planning, modelling and engineering work every day. Every day is different and I have been fortunate to work with a diverse range of disciplines on projects. For example, some days would involve modelling existing and future scenarios while others would involve report writing, data analysis and site visits when needed. I have been gradually entrusted more responsibilities throughout the year and these experiences have been helpful with my personal and professional development.

Roughly 50/50 split between fieldwork and office responsibilities. Fieldwork often comprises a sampling program of environmental media as a part of contaminated land investigations. Office responsibilities include entry-level reporting and basic project management tasks such as sub-contractor management, HSE preparation, and client liaison.

Engineering design, project management, dealing with various stakeholders.

Drafting

It varies day to day, depending on what the project needs. It can be field work (control survey, detail survey, laser scanning), or data processing.
