Your Role

The intern’s work will support the IBM Sustainability Accelerator engagement with Texas A&M AgriLife to provide water usage decision support to smallholder farmers in drought-prone regions. The IBM Research Intern supporting this effort will work to:

  • Use machine learning to predict environmental variables.
  • Implement optimization or reinforcement learning to guide decision-making
  • Use Soil and Water Assessment Tool forecasts alongside local soil moisture measurements as well as weather data from IBM Environmental Intelligence Suite or alternative.

Salary & Benefits

The salary for this role ranges from approximately $104,160 to $143,220 per year.

About You

  • Eligible candidates must be pursuing a Master's or Ph.D. Degree in a quantitative discipline - Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related area.
  • Experience in hydrology, environmental engineering, geospatial analytics, or related fields.
  • Experience solving analytical problems using rigorous and quantitative approaches
    Advanced usage of machine learning environments and model deployment.
  • Experience in API/database/SQL development and management.
