Management at Atlassian

8.0
8.0 rating for Management, based on 27 reviews
How accessible are managers and do they make good mentors? You may want to address internal communication, performance feedback or praise and recognition.
My manager is not very accessible since he's overworked as he has many responsibilities. He doesn't make a good mentor as he has very little empathy and can't relate well with conversations outside of work. He scarcely gives any praise or recognition but isn't hesitant at all to provide critical feedback.

Because of the recent reorg, the managers have to manage more teams, meaning they are less accessible (I only see my manager 1-1 once a fortnight). Personally my manager has been very supportive of my growth, and is always looking for new opportunities for me to grow and develop. We get performance feedback/praise/recognition from our managers in our quarterly check-ins, otherwise it would be informal conversations at fortnightly meetings.

My managers have been amazing thus far, they are very attentive and have really cared about my performance and progression. My first performance review was very informative and pointed me in the right direction. I definitely looked to my manager as my mentor.

My managers are great, they genuinely care about you and your work. Atlassian is great because others on your team who aren't your managers also act like mentors to you as well.

They're excellent. I've had 4 managers since joining (mostly due to internal shifts) and they've all been amazing. They're knowledgeable and subject matter experts in various fields, friendly and approachable, and always available to assist. Each have had their own styles, but communication/feedback/praise has all been pretty consistent

My manager is really great and does communication/feedback well, but upper management is a lot worse at communication and understanding what people on the ground think made Atlassian so good/successful.

Managers are very supportive of your growth and development. They take a lot of responsibility for making sure you have good working conditions and can be at your best. They give feedback frequently throughout the year and make sure to call out any praise to the team when it is deserved.

Managers are super accessible - they often make time to catch up and mentor you in terms of work and career. They are very open with their communication and provide feedback for performance early such that you can work on anything you need. Most of the time, they are keen on helping you succeed.

Both Managers I've had have been fantastic in all regards, make great mentors, communicate efficiently and professionally, provided great perfomance feedback and recognition. No complaints at all about my managers. They are very easy to access

Managers are more there to manage, they are great and you can confide with them. Mentors are more your seniors

my manager is pretty good, other than more visibility on my work, he is great
