This opportunity is for two students currently undertaking undergraduate or postgraduate study in information technology or computer science and intending to continue full-time study in 2022, to be part of a team assisting Tata Consultancy Services with their customer relationships.

The interns will be provided with an opportunity to understand how Tata Consultancy Services provides solutions to customers in the banking industry, and build knowledge on how business requirements translate into technology needs and how to incorporate data into business decisions. These are virtual/online internships, but the interns may have an opportunity to visit the TCS office in New Zealand.

About TCS

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is a global IT leader headquartered in India, among the top 10 technology firms in the world. It employs over 500,000 of the world's best-trained IT professionals spread across 46 countries.

TCS is part of the Tata group, India's largest industrial conglomerate. The Tata group's core purpose is to improve the quality of life of the communities it serves globally, through long-term stakeholder value creation based on leadership with trust.

More information about Tata Consultancy Services can be found by visiting the company's website.

About the internship

The successful applicants will have the opportunity to collaborate in a diverse team, with experienced IT consultants in New Zealand, as well as virtually with India to support delivering programs across three key themes:

  • Business Analysis
  • Banking & Wealth Management
  • Quality Assurance

While completing the internship you will gain an understanding of the nature of Tata Consultancy Services - its structure, how projects and teams are organised to achieve goals and the different ways that your degree can be applied in the workplace. Assisted by a mentor, the internship placement will enable you to build on your existing skills, with guidance, and contribute productively to a project or series of activities during the placement.
The internships will take place over eight weeks between November 2021 and February 2022.

Eligibility

Applicants must be:

  • New Zealand citizens or permanent resident status
  • in good health
  • must be studying (preferred Information Technology or Computer Science) graduate or post graduate level, and intending to continue full-time study in 2022
  • adaptable, mature, reliable and resilient
  • interested in pursuing a career involving India and the wider Asian region.

Ideal candidates will have a pre-existing interest in the national culture of India and aspire to develop their capacity for working in cross-cultural environments.

What's covered

  • These are paid internships. Laptops will also be provided during the internship programme.
  • Management of the programme
  • The Asia New Zealand Foundation and TCS will jointly deliver pastoral care and support professional development in cultural competency.
  • Reporting requirements
  • Interns are expected to write a 600-word article (with accompanying photos) on their internship that will appear on the Foundation's website (to be submitted during the internship) and write a final three-page report evaluating the internship experience at the end of the programme.
