Entry Requirements

To enter the Bachelor of Science (Honours) you will:

Massey's Master of Agribusiness is an internationally recognised qualification. You will gain the research and professional skills required across the value chain from farm production to food marketing.
Entry Requirements

To enter the Master of Agribusiness you will have been awarded or qualified for:

  • a bachelor's degree in agriculture or a business-related subject with a B+ grade average or higher over the qualifying 300-level courses, or equivalent, or
  • a bachelor's degree, or equivalent, with a B+ grade average or higher over the qualifying 300-level courses and at least three years of relevant work experience, or
  • a Bachelor of AgriCommerce/Agribusiness with Honours with Second Class Honours, Division I or higher or equivalent, or
  • a Postgraduate Diploma in Agribusiness with a B+ grade average or higher, or equivalent.

If you are applying with the work experience option, you will supply a curriculum vitae (CV) to support your application.

If you have a Bachelor of AgriCommerce/Agribusiness with Honours or a Postgraduate Diploma in Agribusiness as outlined above, you may apply for credit towards Part One of the qualification in accordance with the limits specified in the Recognition of Prior Learning regulations.

This qualification includes a 90 credit thesis. Please provide a short summary of your research interests (200 words or less) when you apply for this qualification.

Entry Requirements

The Master of Applied Social Work is a selected entry programme. This means there are a number of extra requirements you must meet.

To enter the Master of Applied Social Work you will:

  • have been awarded or qualified for an undergraduate degree, either in the social sciences (such as social and cultural studies, psychology, human development) or an alternative degree with substantial relevant experience in a social or community setting
  • hold a driver's licence that is valid in New Zealand unless otherwise exempted
  • be selected into the programme on the basis of a process which includes:
    • providing a personal statement explaining why you wish to enter the social work programme and profession
    • providing two character referees - these must not be family or friends
    • providing a curriculum vitae that includes academic and work history
    • undertaking an interview.

You will provide verified copies of all academic transcripts for studies taken at all universities other than Massey University.

Once you are successful at gaining a place in the Master of Applied Social Work programme, you will also need to complete further tasks. These are to meet the requirements set down by the Social Workers Registration Act 2003 for registration as a social worker in New Zealand (to ensure you are a "fit and proper person to practise social work"). You will need to:

  • complete the vetting service request and consent form for a New Zealand Police check
  • provide a current police certificate from any overseas countries you have lived in for 12 months or more in the last 10 years.

If English, Maori or New Zealand sign language is not your first language, you will need to provide official evidence of your English language competency in the form of:

  • an IELTS test with an overall academic score of at least 6.5, with no band score less than 6.5, taken within the preceding two years, or
  • a TOEFL internet-based test (IBT) score of 85 or higher with a writing score of 22, or
  • at least two years of successful study in a New Zealand secondary school, with at least 10 Level 2 NCEA credits in literacy (five reading and five writing), or equivalent.

The Master of Applied Linguistics provides professionals in all areas of second-language teaching (including Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) with a combination of professional and research skills which is increasingly important in both domestic and international settings.
Entry Requirements

To enter the Master of Applied Linguistics you will:

  • have been awarded or qualified for a bachelor degree with at least a B grade average across the 200-300 level courses, and
  • have completed relevant teaching and related experience approved by the College of Humanities and Social Sciences as appropriate for entry, or
  • have been awarded or qualified for a postgraduate diploma in second language teaching or a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Linguistics, or equivalent, with at least a B+ grade average for entry to the Research Pathway, or at least a B grade average for entry to the Coursework Pathway.

If you have a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Linguistics as outlined above, you may apply for credit towards Part One of the qualification in accordance with the limits specified in the Recognition of Prior Learning.

  • have sufficient background in statistical analysis tools to satisfy the Academic Board that you have the capacity to undertake the programme.

  • a Bachelor of Arts degree (or equivalent) with a major in the intended postgraduate subject, with at least a B grade average across the 200/300 level major courses

  • a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) with a subject in the intended postgraduate subject or a Postgraduate Diploma in Arts with an endorsement in the intended postgraduate subject, or an equivalent qualification,with at least a B+ grade average across the 700-level courses for entry to the Research Pathway or a B grade average across the 700-level courses for entry to the Coursework Pathway.

If you have a BA (Hons) or PGDipArts in the intended Master of Arts subject as outlined above, you may apply for credit towards Part One of the qualification in accordance with the limits specified in the Recognition of Prior Learning regulations.

To enter the Master of Arts (Psychology) you will have been awarded or qualified for a bachelor's degree with a major in Psychology having achieved at least a B grade average in the 300-level Psychology specialisation courses, or equivalent.

Entry Requirements

This programme is a selected entry programme. This means there are a number of extra requirements you must meet.

In order to be considered for the Master of Clinical Psychology you will:

  • have been awarded or qualified for a master's degree with First Class or Second Class Division I Honours in Psychology with at least 120 credits of research, or the equivalent,

or

  • have been awarded or qualified for a PhD in Psychology, and
  • have completed the following courses, or their equivalents, obtaining at least a B+ average no longer than five years before the start of the internship year:
    • 175.781 Understanding Mental Distress;
    • 175.782 Clinical Psychology Assessment and
    • 175.783 Clinical Psychology Interventions, and
  • meet the requirements set down by the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 as being a fit and proper person to be registered.

You will need to provide the following documents:

  • a verified academic transcript (if your qualifications were not obtained from Massey University)
  • a current CV or resume detailing your relevant training and experience
  • a passport-sized photograph
  • brief personal statement (up to 500 words) which includes your reasons for seeking a career in Clinical Psychology. You may also wish to list perceived strengths as well as skills you will bring to your studies and training as a Clinical Psychologist
  • supporting statements from whanau/family (optional)
  • name, occupation and email details of two referees. Referees will be automatically contacted to supply a confidential reference in relation to this programme.
