Culture at Analytics and Research in Government

9.3
9.3 rating for Culture, based on 9 reviews
Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
Very supportive working environment. Worked on a small team that was very close-knit. Lots of meetings/events that brought the whole agency together. Quite a flat structure with an open-planned office for all workers, including senior staff.

Strcture, a little bit formal but still very relaxed and friendly Socialisation = amazing, very good within my team Teamwork, people can get quite busy so need to be a bit proactive!

Working culture is great. You don't feel much of a hierarchy within the ministry. People willing to help each other out, and always offer the help if you ask for it.

Really good culture, very welcoming for lunch, coffees etc. Not much in the way of socialising after hours, but we were also in various stages of COVID then

Collaborative, both between and within teams. MBIEs a big agency with a diverse range of portfolios, enabling cross pollination of ideas and practices. Great for someone like me with somewhat niche skills for a data analyst, I have multiple people to go to outside my team for support in those areas. Each deliverable touches almost every member of our small team, giving us opportunities to feed back on each others work and learn from what they find. Everyone wants each other to be the best analyst they can be, critique is constructive. My manager has a strong analytical background, and is a seasoned mentor and coach. My managers new manager is well deserving of his new role, who really understands the nitty gritty of what its like as an analyst. Our units median age is progressively decreasing, with an increasing amount of competent young permanent staff. Most interns and grads will find they work with or even report to people close to their own age.
