Do you see your future in ATC?

We’re on the hunt for the next intake of Air Traffic Controller (ATCO) students – is this where you see your future?

It’s a career full of challenges, opportunities and a huge sense of purpose and achievement. As you use world-class aviation technology to help you guide aircraft safely through our airspace, you’ll be steeling your gaze on a fulfilling future in one of the most critical roles in aviation.

As a student, you’ll receive comprehensive world-class training as part of Airways’ intensive programme, to ensure you gain all the specialist skills you need to be an ATCO.

The role of an air traffic controller is dynamic, exciting and a great challenge with incredible rewards. No two days are the same, you’ll love the balance that shift work provides, and you’ll leave your work at the door when your shift is over.

To learn about our training programme, eligibility, the selection process and what it means to have a career in ATC, please check out our website.

PLEASE NOTE: This training is available for New Zealand permanent residents and citizens, and Australian citizens only.

If you are successful through our testing as part of our selection process for the training programme, you will be required to attend a one-day assessment centre in Christchurch in February 2024.

Training for successful candidates will begin in our Christchurch training centre in April 2024. Students will spend 8-9 months training in Christchurch, before relocating to one of our air traffic control towers across the country, for on-the-job training.

PLEASE NOTE: Your application will only be accepted upon completion of the above application form. Applications via Seek only will not be accepted.
