TPG advises on delivering the critical roads, rail and bridges that connect us, the spaces and buildings where our vibrant communities live, and the essential public facilities we rely on. Our highly skilled team of 170 right across New Zealand bring unique knowledge in a local context and a trusted, independent point of view.

TPG is at the forefront of embracing change, driving progress, and helping to shape our communities of tomorrow. We are building a stronger New Zealand, together.

We pride ourselves on providing a positive culture and stimulating work environment for our people. Our values form the foundation of our culture and influence our approach to our clients and to each other. We encourage a culture where all team members can contribute and reach their potential.

Recruitment Process

We recognise that this might be your first formal job application, so we promise to provide a supportive process and ensure you have a positive experience throughout the application process.

Apply online - Our programme usually opens in April/May for three weeks! You can apply online through the job opportunities on our profile. You will need a current CV, a cover letter, and a copy of your most recent academic transcript.

Video meet and greet – We review all applications and invite shortlisted applicants to submit a short video. We will ask you a few questions to learn more about you and your interest in TPG's graduate programme.

Interview - This takes place over a full day with other graduate applicants, including a formal interview, a group project, and a short written assessment. The best part is, we bring you to our Wellington office for the day (the travel is on us) so you get to meet some of the team and get a feel for TPG. We want you to feel prepared and confident through the process, so we will provide you with guidance at each stage.

Coffee catch-up – We invite all potential new employees to meet with a member of the team for an informal chat. It is a good opportunity to meet one of the team outside the formal interview process.

Job offer – In July/August we will get in touch to confirm the outcome of your interview. If you are offered a job, we will do a reference and background check and then you will receive a formal offer through our online HR system.

Welcome to the team – We look forward to you joining TPG! Our graduates usually start in mid-late January. There may be some flexibility with start dates which we will discuss with you through the offer process.

Remuneration & Career Growth

TPG's graduate development programme offers a unique opportunity to become part of our successful specialist consultancy team and start on the pathway to a rewarding career in property.

Our programme is built around great relationships and collaboration – we have a wealth of knowledge and expertise to share and welcome the fresh ideas and perspectives graduates bring to our team.

The two-year programme provides graduates with a breadth of exposure to the business and develops well-rounded consultants who are eager to progress their career with TPG.

I like that my job provides me with the opportunity to learn. While that is somewhat cliché, it is what keeps it interesting.

I receive an invite for a site visit from one of the property consultants. Looks like on Monday I will be visiting one of the properties we will soon be taking over for that roundabout. Sounds fun.

As it is nearing the end of the month, I am sitting with my manager to go over the monthly expenses for all Waka Kotahi disposal jobs in the Waikato and Bay of Plenty regions and establish budgets for the following month. This is an exciting job to do as it allows me to get an overview of all the current projects and understand the financial side of the work that I do.
