In February Stantec signed the Diversity Agenda Accord. A pledge to drive real behavioural change and be held publicly accountable for helping to achieve a truly diverse industry. There is a very diverse range of people working at Stantec and a very supportive environment to be yourself in.

I think there has been a lot of improvement in this area too and you can see a lot of initiatives in place to get this moving forward. As a female, I think there is a sense of equality. There is a diverse and safe LGBT feeling. However, ethnic minorities (esp. pacific islander and maori) are quite underrepresented.

Quite a good ratio of women in our office, for an engineering company. Race is mostly Caucasian but there's no difference in the way anyone is treated. We had an openly gay head of office and I am bi and very comfortable about being open with that.

A number of staff work part time due to family. This seems to work well. I am the only female in my team which isn't an issue.

We have representatives for diversity and celebrate with events. Some of the older staff aren't interested in celebrating diversity but it isn't malicious. The office is mostly men.

I know that there is a cadet programme to give people who have not been to university a chance to start as a cadet within the company and receive on the job training. This program is still in its infancy stages though and I do not know much more about it.
