Culture at South32

8.1
8.1 rating for Culture, based on 15 reviews
Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
good work culture
Midlevel, Perth
Team members have high expectations when it comes to delivery but also attaining work life balance. Often their expectation for you to have work life balance does not extend to themselves or their leaders. Often team members have young families so socialising after work can be difficult. Teamwork is encouraged and support is provided whenever needed.

In office culture can sometimes be ruled by production pressures. Outside of work culture depends on site. Some sites have great after hours cultures

Most people are very approachable and happy to help out by teaching me new things which is important to me as a learning graduate. I haven't yet been exposed to the culture outside of office hours.

My team is very sociable. On site, we will play squash 1-2 times a week with each other. Always sit together for lunch. Will sometimes catch up with each other during our off swings.

I like that it is very structured in the sense that you are aware who you need to speak with on certain matters. everyone that I have met has been very lovely and willing to do what is required for the company.

South32 corporate has a great vision for the company, but it hasn't necessarily translated well onto site. A lot of work needs to happen in regard to inclusivity, respect for women in the workplace, and welcoming new employees. Furthermore, there's been a lot of turnover recently due to the job market in WA, which makes it hard to stay positive and believe that this really is the best place to work. Social-wise it's OK but there aren't very many young people, which will make it difficult for any new graduates if they're not local.

I wish we had more social events but when I do get to socialise with people they are great! The people working at S32 make it great and they really are awesome.
