Why become a Ryman graduate?

Graduate Pioneers Wanted

Our graduate programme is different from the average – it's all about positioning you to be a future Ryman leader, and learning all about our unique business along the way.

Our pioneering approach and diverse organisation mean we employ specialists and generalists across a range of office and field-based positions, including Finance, People, Technology, Healthcare, Construction, Design, Sales and Marketing, Village Operations and many more. Whatever you have studied, our two-year rotational programme of work placements, education and improvement projects gives you the opportunity to blaze your own trail!

To help get you work-ready and set you up for success, we offer a sign-on bonus as well as a competitive starting salary!

What's included in the programme?

You will complete three placements across different Ryman departments (i.e. Office, Sales, Village, and Construction), with one rotation ideally being in one of our villages or, on one of our construction sites. Each rotation will see your work in an established position, while also delivering a role-specific improvement project and completing relevant on-the-job training. You will also undertake a package of tailored education throughout the programme – including our Aspiring Leaders programme – and have the support of a dedicated mentor.

When you're finished, you'll have the tools you need to become a future leader and Ryman Pioneer, whatever path you decide to go down.

What are we looking for?

As we've said, one of the awesome things about the Ryman grad programme is that we're open to considering graduates from all disciplines. So, we're really interested in who you are and we're looking for people that connect with our characteristics:

  • Kindness is in your DNA and underpins everything you do
  • You enjoy working in positive, trusting teams who work together as one
  • You keep going, even if there are bumps in the road
  • You innovate and work hard to earn success
  • You use simple, clear language that gets straight to the point

Recruitment Process

The commencement date for our 2024 Graduate Programme is January 2024.

Applications for our 2024 programme open on 1 March 2023. We will process your application following the close date and will keep in regular contact with you, so you are up to date on how your application is progressing.

The application process:

To apply for the 2024 graduate programme, you will need to submit your application online through our career website.

You will be required to upload a copy of your CV and we strongly suggest submitting a cover letter also.

Ability assessments:

If your application is progressed past the application stage, we will ask you to complete two online ability assessments. There will be practice assessments available to you before completing the actual assessments.

One-way video interview:

Once you have completed the ability assessments, you will be asked to complete a one-way video interview, where you will be asked a selection of questions and will be required to record your responses.

The purpose of the one-way video interview is for us to get to know you better, so don’t be nervous and be yourself!

First interview:

You will then be given the opportunity to meet with some of our friendly Rymanians. The first interview will follow a semi-structured format, where you will be asked a mix of competency and behavioural questions.

The interview is just as much about us getting to know you, as it is about you assessing whether Ryman is the right fit for you, so make sure you come with questions to ensure you are making an informed decision!

Personality assessment:

You will then be asked to complete an online personality assessment. These assessments measure your traits against our Ryman characteristics.

There are no right or wrong answers in this assessment – we use it to get a deeper understanding of your personality and where your strengths lie!

Second interview and  presentation:

You will then be invited to meet with some of our current graduates, as well as some of our leadership team, for a second interview. At this stage, we will also ask you to prepare a short presentation to share with the interview panel.

You may also meet with some very special panel guests – check out our website to find out who this may be...

Pre-employment and reference checks:

You will be required to complete some pre-employment documents, as well as providing us with the contact details of at least TWO referees. Don’t worry, we won’t contact anyone without your permission.

What Graduates Say About Them
  • I absolutely love the company culture at Ryman Healthcare. The company really care about it's staff and residents alike. Everyday we are treated with nothing short of kindness and care, making coming to work everyday extremely enjoyable. There are also a number of learning and development opportunities which are available and senior leaders who are willing to take the time out of their day to cultivate team growth. I love the interaction between departments and how easy it is to communicate with the broader Ryman team.
  • So far the workload has been quite demanding although manageable
