  • Kick-start your career in a large public sector organisation
  • Varied roles offered in Early Learning, HR, Curriculum Design, Community Engagement, and more!
  • Have the opportunity to make a difference to Aotearoa's education sector

The Ministry of Education summer internship programme is a paid 12 week internship over the summer holidays. Opportunities are available in a range of different areas across the business, and can give you a real taste of where your career could take you.

You'll be working on real projects with experienced colleagues, who'll support you to develop your skills and knowledge further, and make the most of your time with us.

We are looking for resilient and driven people who are motivated to make a difference to our education system. We are looking for effective communicators, who enjoy working as part of a team and collaborating to make a positive contribution to our country's future.

We welcome applications from students from diverse backgrounds, including Māori, Pacific and Disabled people that willenrich our understanding of the education system. We know there are many different pathways in education. Your academicgrades aren't the be-all and end-all. We're looking for fresh ideas and diverse perspectives, as well as an ability to learn fromyour mistakes, take initiative and communicate effectively.

Ministry of Education Graduate Adam Berry Profile
  • Graduate stories
I have been so lucky in my education throughout my life. Without it I would be a completely different person, and seeing such a concrete (sometimes literally) symbol of access to education for someone is genuinely wonderful to me.

At its core all my work is about making a difference for people. As an added bonus, every now and then you find yourself in a meeting with a bunch of really amazing people all trying to make things better.
