I went through a series of individual and group interviews
Graduate, Sydney
1. Submit resume and fill out forms 2. Sit online tests 3. Online group interview 4. Face to face interview with manager and member of HR
Graduate, Sydney
It was quite a while ago and cannot remember entire process. There was a questionnaire/ personality test to begin with. There was a phone interview, and a group interview where we were asked to solve a problem as a group. Final interview was an individual interview.
Graduate, Melbourne
Aptitude test and short recorded video interview, then an assessment centre, and final interview
Graduate, Sydney
The application process started with an online application and assessment, with one video question. Next was the online assessment centre, where we were put into groups and had to provide a solution to a problem, then answer some questions on our solution. Finally, I had an in person interview with a HR rep and two senior engineering managers which was relatively casual .
Graduate, Sydney
The process was a bit more relaxed than other companies in the initial stage. From memory, there were a couple of questions but responses could be rerecorded which really helped to settle nerves and give it your best shot. The assessment centre was broken into groups (approx. 4-5 people) with a central task. Ours was about managing safety and policy between JV partners. Next followed a one on one interview with some detail about the interviewers and their roles. Then some questions surrounding reasons for applying to John Holland specifically and what is your personal edge?

Do you have any specific tips and advice for candidates applying to your company? How would you recommend they best prepare?
Ensure you research the team you are wishing to join and express why you are interested in THAT team in particular. A lot of people just apply because of the name, so when you express interest in the particular sub discipline, it can go a long way to making a good impression.

- Be yourself. It is easier to be more confident this way. - Don't give generic answers in the interview, give answers that are specific to you and truthful. - Practise your answers before interview. Look up common interview questions and practise your responses. It helps with nerves. - Make sure you do research about the company before interviewing.
Graduate, Melbourne
Research the company and be yourself, be upfront with your concerns and questions.
Graduate, Sydney
My advice is to learn more about the company.
Graduate, Melbourne

Consider how our Company values align with your personal values. What skills and experiences can you bring that set you apart from others applying for this role? (Both formal qualifications and soft skills) Be genuine at the assessment centre, you don't need to talk the most, nor dominate the ideas pool, just aim to make key considered contributions and support the team.
