Our Graduate Program across Auckland & Christchurch will encourage you to explore your potential and provide you with the tools and support to achieve your career aspirations and goals within an extensive development program. We're super excited to be expanding the 2020 team with backgrounds such as Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics and other related disciplines!

What does the program offer you?

It's an 18-month program with structured rotations giving you the opportunity to explore different projects, teams and ways of working. You'll be offered:

  • Structured induction and ongoing development program.

The Graduate Program begins in February each year and during this time, you will participate in courses, site visits and key projects across your technology area.

A little bit more about the team in NZ:

Within Group Technology the Platform teams develop, maintain and support the complex applications and environments to deliver the business and technology strategy. Across Auckland & Christchurch you will have the chance to experience the following areas:

Operational Support

This team support all the applications for our major NZ Insurance plus the applications and interfaces that make up our Broker and Banking solutions. This is a remotely dispersed team utilising collaboration tools to align their work.

You'll learn a mix of insurance business knowledge as well as a technical understanding of the applications themselves and our complex ecosystems that they exist in – a lot to absorb! They work closely with their business stakeholders, infrastructure, as well as the software development teams. The centre point of the organisation to ensure we have high availability of our systems for our 24-hour business.

You will learn to work fast, be responsive, stretch your communication skills, and exercise those analytical and problem-solving skills.

This team build the interfaces required to push and pull information between our Policy systems and interrelated solutions, utilising Cloud technology (Azure), Mule and .Net. They provide integrated solutions across the NZ major insurance brands plus the applications and interfaces that make up our Broker and Banking solutions. They also work closely with their counterparts in Australia.

The work they do provides interconnectivity between our systems and play are a significant part of most of our major projects.
They use the Agile Scrum Methodology and cover the major software development skills of BA, Development, and Testing so you will gain good exposure to all these SDLC skills, learn the insurance business, and get great exposure to several different technologies.

Enterprise Technology Architecture is the Technical thought leadership for decisions in Group Technology to drive and deliver the Group IT strategy. We are the first point of contact in delivering the architecture and technical design across all IAG.

Infrastructure is efficient and effective infrastructure services as well as driving consistent outcomes for IAG by a comprehensive approach to managing and integrating multiple service providers and teams.

Technology Operations have a core purpose to deliver strong operational excellence, focus and discipline with our partnerships, monitoring the flow of work, establishing and monitoring the governance and risk processes.

Shared Technical Capabilities aim to uplift the technology/engineering capabilities across IAG technology platforms through centres of excellence and platform enablement teams.

To be eligible for the IAG Graduate Program you must have:

  • New Zealand permanent residency or New Zealand/Australian Citizenship
  • Degree qualification or higher within the past 3 years for 2020 program (2017, 2018, 2019)
  • Applicants must have a credit average (65%) or higher
