Hawkins delivers unique projects across a variety of sectors including education, health, commercial office buildings and heritage restorations. We lead the industry in civic projects including art galleries, event centres, stadiums and community facilities. Complex projects, such as the earthquake-damaged Christchurch Town Hall, are our specialty.
Hawkins owes its name to Fred T. Hawkins, a builder and true kiwi entrepreneur. From small beginnings in Fred's Hamilton garage in 1946, Hawkins has seen healthy growth over seven decades. We now have 400 people around New Zealand, with regional offices in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch.
Hawkins has a Graduate and Cadet Programme, aimed at those who have recently completed or are in their final year of a tertiary qualification in construction. This innovative two-year programme is designed to help our graduates and cadets become familiar with site operations, estimating and tendering, planning and programming, and commercial management. Participants gain a holistic understanding of the entire construction process, and learn to work and communicate effectively within multi-disciplinary project teams.
