We want all New Zealanders to thrive in a digital world
Are you the next Digital Leader? Applications are now open.
We are looking for people from all degree backgrounds to become our digital leaders of tomorrow. Our GovTechTalent grads are working in communications, marketing, policy, security, data and analytics, user experience, service design, HR, technology, GIS, finance, strategy, architecture, project management, procurement, and the list keeps growing.
Applications open Monday 6 July and close 5pm Friday 31 July. Successful graduates will commence in February 2021. The government is redesigning its services and processes so that it can better serve its customers. We need Graduates with leadership capabilities, and a heart for people to play a role in enhancing the public sector, and helping shape New Zealand as a digital nation.
Working in digital in the public sector is more than technology. In the broadest sense, it means doing things differently in an increasingly connected world — using new mindsets, skill-sets, technologies, and data to benefit people, government and the economy.
Working in digital is about improving the lives of everyday New Zealanders – tackling real-world problems such as running households, using public transport, driving our roads, infrastructure, security, healthcare, and the environment. Our GovTechTalent Graduates bring new perspectives, ideas and skills that help them navigate an increasingly complex world. They have the courage to try new things, the courage to ask questions, and the courage required to design the future.
The spirit and scope of the GovTechTalent programme empower the Graduates to work on digital projects that play to their abilities. The Graduates are given flexibility and opportunities to seek out work that they find meaningful.
The Programme allows Graduates to work in three different government agencies, as part of a cohort spread across the public sector. This enables Graduates to develop a broader and deeper understanding of the way government works, more so than if they stayed within the one agency.
GovTechTalent Graduates are selected from all degree backgrounds representing diversity in thought, experience and skills. We look for behaviours over technical knowledge.
How the programme works:
The Graduates are based in Wellington, they spend 24 months rotating through three of the eight participating agencies, spending eight months at each agency.
