Our Purpose

We exist to make sure New Zealanders get more out of life. It's our reason for being.
We're a bunch of grocers who believe we have a responsibility to be a positive force for the communities we live in and to the people that call this great island nation home too.

To make sure New Zealanders get more from life, we aspire to be one of the most customer driven retailers in the world who truly understand our customers, consistently delivering what they value and continuously proving our loyalty to them through our actions.

Working with us

For those that work for us, we're committed to creating an awesome place, for awesome people to achieve awesome things because our people add the magic to the experiences our customers have with us.

At Foodies we have four company values that drive how we do things. These were created with the help of around 500 Foodies team members who reflected on our unique strengths and behaviours and our four Foodies values were born: we think customer, we're in it together, we're corageous and we play above the line.

Diversity & Inclusion

As a Co-op we have a strong sense of commitment to creating a fair and inclusive co-op.  We are committed to being a cooperative that celebrates our people - our taonga, so they feel a sense of belonging in our Foodies whanau. We welcome courageous behaviour, inspire togetherness, but most importantly we celebrate our people every day for being uniquely them.

Here for NZ

Foodstuff New Zealand

We love our country and take the responsibility to look after this wonderful place we call home seriously. To make the biggest impact we can, we're focusing on what matters most and have made four social promises.

Recruitment Process

We open applications for our Intern Programme in the middle of the year.

To apply you'll need to submit a cover letter, CV, academic transcript (this can be your unofficial transcript, we know you may not have finished your studies yet!) and answer a couple of questions.

We'll let you know the outcome of your application by email.

From there we use a one-way video interview to see if you'd be a great fit in our Foodies whānau. We'll ask you 2-3 questions, and you'll get time to practice and record your answers. We know this can be a bit scary, but don't worry about getting it perfect, we just want to get to know you a bit better.

After video interviews you'll be shortlisted for a particular role, and we'll give you a call to see if we think you'd be a good fit for the role, and we can answer any questions you may have before we arrange an interview.

Interviews will be held onsite at our offices in Mangere where possible. It's no problem if you're based outside of Auckland as we can offer online interviews.

The interview will be with the People Leader of the team your potential role is in so you can get a feel for the tasks and responsibilities of the role and the team culture. During the interview we might ask more about you and what made you choose you area of study, your skills, what you're passionate about and what you like to do in your spare time. This is a good time for you to ask questions so you can make sure it'll be a good fit for you too.

We'll give you a call to let you know the outcome of your interview, offers are made and reference checks are completed online.

Onboarding is important to us so the moment you sign your contract with us your journey at Foodies begins! Most of our Interns start in the final weeks of November to accommodate for final exams. The programme then wraps up towards the end of February.

Remuneration & Career Growth

We offer a competitive rate for our interns and we're passionate about supporting our interns in finding full or part time roles if they're interested in staying with us.
