7.45 AM

As my alarm clock starts buzzing, a new day begins. I wake up and take a shower before breakfast. Although the bus is not always on time, thankfully there are 2 bus routes I can choose to catch and make my way to the office.

9:30 AM

I get into the office around this time, thanks to flexibility provided by FNZ, people can freely schedule their time to fit their days to suit their personal circumstances best. I begin by checking my messages, emails and code reviews (if any) before our 10:00 stand-up.

10:00 AM

It is time for my project group to have our daily stand-up. Every team member talks about what they did yesterday and what their plans for the day are. It is a good time to get things up-to-date and also discuss our progress. After the stand-up, it is time to practice our barista skills in the kitchen! I like a cup of mochaccino, a sweet start to the day.

10.45 AM

I usually write some developer notes as a diary of what I’ve achieved. This helps the wider team respond to future changes through sharing of knowledge and supports FNZ’s approach to agile development.

1.00 PM

Lunchtime! I normally prepare a lunch box when I am making dinner. But if not, I will just go downstairs and pick up some sushi or noodles. This is also a good time to talk with colleagues and do some weekend planning during this time.

2.00 PM

I get back to my desk and continue my work. I’m not always sitting down, staring at screen and typing code, I like to discuss technical details about our platform with other developers if needed, and may talk about business logic and update progress to analysts. Taking breaks after working a while is also important.

5.00 PM

Time to play! There are a couple of foosball tables and game machines like PlayStation and Space Invaders in office. Hanging out with other colleagues here and switching our mind to play mode from work mode.

When the day’s work is nearly finished, I like to review today's work by taking a look at developer notes I wrote. If the work is completed, I will ask an analyst if they’re able to do a functional review together. We will discuss the work and then if it is all good, I will request a code review.

6:00 PM

Time to clock off, usually I will buy some fresh groceries for dinner before making way home. Catching the bus after 6:30pm when it is not crowded.
