Career Prospects at Duncan Cotterill

As I am in my first year, I am not sure yet

Clear progression path for solicitors.

You need to work at the firm for 3 years (if starting as a grad) before there is an opportunity to be promoted to senior solicitor. Career progression-wise, however, there are lots of opportunities as a junior, as teams are very fluid.

The firm is very transparent on promotion opportunities and the particular timeframes that need to be exhausted before such opportunities are accessible. It creates something to work towards.

There is a yearly performance review and requirements for promotions in terms of level of skills required are provided and are clear.

My understanding is that it takes consistent performance/meeting budget to get promoted.

There are opportunities to move up the ranks and it is expected to some degree that you do that and take on more responsibility as you get more experience.
