Deloitte's Summer Intern program, running from November 2019 to February 2020 is a great way to experience what life is like in Corporate Finance by giving you real world exposure to clients and projects. The program is designed to help you make the best career choice by showing you what it's like working for Deloitte.

What will I do in Corporate Finance?

Everything you will do in Corporate Finance is about value, whether that be financial profitability, economic or social value. As a member of our team you will create value for our diverse range of public and private sector clients, working with them to solve their most pressing strategic, financial and commercial problems.

You will work closely with our clients on the challenges they face, helping them to make important decisions utilising our broad suite of services. You will work on Corporate Finance projects with our clients, including valuations, transaction support, lead mergers & acquisition (M&A) advisory, restructuring and capital raising.

Our projects are broad, meaning you will gain experience across a range of industries, developing a suite of competencies and technical skills across our service line offerings. Corporate Finance is all about enhancing shareholder value and engineering optimum business and financial strategies for our clients.

What degree will I have?

A tertiary qualification in any of:

  • Commerce;
  • Majors in Maths, Statistics, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Info Systems or related;
  • Conjoint, double majors and post graduate studies are also advantageous

Your skills

We need to quickly gain the trust and respect of our clients – something that hinges as much on personality as it does on intellect. With that in mind, you must be/have:

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Analytical with attention to detail
  • First-rate problem solver
  • Commercial acumen
  • Real world experience
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel
