GBS is offering three (3) fantastic opportunities for accounting students to join the Finance team as part of our 12 months, full-time Co-operative (Co-op) program. Commencing in January 2020, the Co-op program provides penultimate year students with the chance to gain experience in a real job where you can apply the knowledge you have gained at university while continuing to develop your technical and business skills.

As a BP GBS Co-op student in the Finance team, you will report to Finance Managers and deliver a number of disciplines within the Finance team including Entity Reporting and Supply Accounting, Banking Services, Management Accounting, Tax and Compliance. You will gain experience and exposure to:

Financial Accounting and Supply Accounting

  • Performing Period End Close (PEC) activities (including management of reporting requirements, data gathering, business sign-off and validation)
  • Supporting key stakeholder relationships
  • Managing Business Partner Organisation (BPO) relationships and deliverables
  • Analytical review of financials

Banking Services

  • Supporting the Treasury Analyst in managing the ANZ Transitive system
  • Assisting with global Treasury projects

Management Accounting:

  • Understanding Kwinana refinery business operations and prepare different types of month end journals like cost accrual, inventory and prepayment, etc.
  • Exposure to inventory system " Maximo" and develop the ability to understand how receipting is done in purchase order and interfaced to SAP
  • Prepare and refresh AFO cost report

Tax & Compliance team

  • Managing local authority fuel tax LAFT report to key stakeholders
  • Preparing Port Agency Fees
  • Performing Quarterly Analytical Review
  • Supporting Fringe Benefit Tax Reporting

To be eligible for our Co-op program you are:

  • in your penultimate year of an Accounting-based (or similar) degree
  • achieving a minimum 65% GPA average
  • available to start in mid-January 2020
  • an Australian citizen or permanent resident
