He angitūtanga: The opportunity

We help keep the council connected to Auckland with our technology, devices and services to the business. Auckland Council has one of the largest application landscapes in the country, keeping them up and running and extending into new technologies is what we do.

You will be involved in a variety of challenging initiatives, working alongside many other IT professionals, delivering cutting edge outcomes for a hugely diverse and cross-functional customer base. Finally, you will be trusted to deliver outcomes and be given freedom to build and develop relationships with customers to give expert advice.

You'll gain experience in a wide range of ICT functions such as

  • ICT Ops (Servers, Desktop Support, Networks, Database Administration)
  • Information Applications (Geospatial Information Services, Business -Intelligence, Data Warehousing)
  • Business Systems Services (Cloud Apps, Automation, Software-as-a-Service)
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (SAP)

Our Graduate Programme aims to provide you with the opportunities and support you need to launch your career and develop as a future leader or specialist within Auckland Council. With over 80 areas of business and the chance to work on large-scale projects, we want to see you achieve your goals while making a real difference to the lives of Aucklanders.

As part of the graduate programme, you'll also be supported in securing a permanent role within Council at the end of your programme.

You'll be supported every step of the way with a support team who want you to succeed including a mentor, graduate liaison, and graduate network. The graduate programme is typically made up of rotations across a number of business areas, giving you accelerated learning and development, all whilst helping to make Auckland a world-class city.

We welcome applications from graduates in the following disciplines:

  • Computer Science
  • Software Engineering
  • Computing systems

To apply you must:

  • Be eligible to work in New Zealand, or eligible to apply for a Post-Study Work Visa
  • Have graduated in the last 2-years and hold a relevant Bachelor's/Master's Degree (from January 2018) or be a current student and graduating by the end of January 2021.
  • If successfully shortlisted, be able to attend an assessment centre on 22nd May 2020.
