This opportunity is for a New Zealand student and recent graduate majoring in management or business to gain experience in the cell-based meat and seafood Business in Singapore. This year's internship with Shiok Meat will be held entirely virtually through remote working

About the Internship

The internship period is for eight weeks, flexible starting between November 2021 – February 2022
The intern will be given a specific project or meaningful work relevant to their area of study and a mentor and supervisor will be assigned to monitor the intern's professional development.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to

  • Develop an understanding of consumer needs, preferences, motivation for cell0based meat/sea food for the Australia and New Zealand market, with am emphasis on Gen Z.
  • Conduct market research to support strategic business planning and product development.
  • Support the business department in strategizing and implementing key projects.
  • Understand and translate consumer needs into business and technology solutions

Eligibility

Applicants must be:

  • a New Zealand citizen or have New Zealand permanent resident status have completed within the last 2 years or be due to complete at least 2 years of tertiary study by November 2021
  • believes in and is passionate about science, food, and alternative protein industry
  • be a motivated self-starter and team player
  • confident, independent, reliable and resilient

What's covered:

This is a paid internship. Other expenses such as the purchase of laptops are not covered.

Management of the programme

The Asia New Zealand Foundation and Shiok Meats will jointly deliver pastoral care and support professional development in cultural competency.

Terms and conditions

The successful applicant will be required to agree to the standard Terms and Conditions for Asia New Zealand Foundation funding recipients.

Reporting requirements

Interns are expected to write a 600-word article (with accompanying photos) on their internship that will appear on the Foundation's website (to be submitted during the internship) and write a final three-page report evaluating the internship experience at the end of the programme.

Selection process

  • Applications close Monday 30 August 2021.
  • Shortlisted applicants will be notified by mid-September 2021.
  • Short-listed applicants will be invited to an in-person or online panel interview to select the successful candidate.

The successful candidate will be advised in October 2021.

All selected interns will be supported to attend a group induction day in Auckland in November 2021
